Application Principles

Definition and Scope: These are research projects to be conducted in collaboration with researchers working at internationally recognized universities and/or scientific research institutions abroad, by university faculty members who are experts in the subject and have obtained at least a doctorate or equivalent title.

Application Process and Principles Regarding Evaluation:

  1. Applications are made through BAP Automation.
  2. The principles regarding the application process and evaluation are specified in the call announcement.
  3. Project applications must be submitted in Turkish and English.
  4. Project coordinators whose applications are accepted must submit the invitation and collaboration letter obtained from the institution where the study will be conducted and the English project proposal form submitted to the BAP Commission, after getting approval from the counterpart institution(s) with which an agreement is made, to the BAP Coordination Office during the contract phase.

Restrictions:

  1. Project coordinators can manage a maximum of 1 International Collaboration Project at the same time.
  2. One can only take part in one ICP project as a researcher. If a researcher involved in an ICP project wishes to take part in another ICP Project, the BAP Commission decides.
  3. Within the scope of this project, research projects to be conducted with universities ranked in the top 1,000 in the general world rankings according to the ARWU (Academic Ranking of World Universities) or THE (Times Higher Education World University Rankings) ranking systems in the current or previous year are supported.
  4. The duration of stay at the relevant research institution for projects to be conducted within this scope is limited to a maximum of six months. The total travel budget (travel expenses, airfare, daily allowance, and accommodation) payable to the project team can be up to 30% of the project budget. In mandatory cases, the travel budget item can be increased by the BAP Commission.
  5. Projects supported by any institution cannot be submitted to the BAP Coordination Office.

Execution and Conclusion Process:

  1. Interim reports are sent online through BAP Automation in accordance with the interim report format at one-year intervals.
  2. If the foreign researcher leaves the project and there is no other foreign researcher in the project, it is mandatory to include a new foreign researcher in the project. Otherwise, the project will lose its international nature and will be canceled. Expenses made within the scope of the project will be collected from the project coordinator, along with the legal interest calculated on the payment day, from the date the expense was made.
  3. The final report is sent online through BAP Automation in accordance with the Final Report Writing Rules.
  4. All requests (additional materials, additional time, adding/removing researchers, etc.) are sent online through BAP Automation.
  5. The BAP Commission may directly accept the final report or, if deemed necessary, send it for evaluation by a referee(s) and decide whether the project will be considered successful based on the referee's opinions.

The results of this type of project must be published in the quartiles of journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus within two years at the latest.
